ROBERT SAYLE  MEMORY STORE

Welcome to the Robert Sayle's community archive which is maintained by Partners past and present.

Click the 'Images' button above to see what has been added in our first few meetings - more fascinating records are being added every week! Clicking on one of the Thumbnails will make it larger.

Some records now have yellow and blue 'Hotspots', with more information...
Hovering your mouse arrow over a yellow Hotspot reveals the name of the person or place featured.
Clicking on a blue centered Hotspot takes you to another picture or record with the same theme.

Robert Sayle was born on 22nd February 1816 in Southery in Norfolk.  He moved to Cambridge and in 1840 opened  a drapery shop in St Andrew's Street which became the well-loved John Lewis department store.
It has now become the new John Lewis Cambridge, opened on 8th November 2007.
Gradually, we will be adding more about the history of the store, it's staff/Partners and customers.
