Swavesey is a fen edge village, eight miles west of Cambridge. Its southern boundary is the A14. On the north west the village boundary is the River Ouse. At the north end of the village is the Parish Church and the Manor House. These stands on a small island above flood level. The disused railway line from Cambridge to St Ives is on the north side of the Church. On a larger island to the south is the medieval town of Swavesey. Watercourses running around the town linked its dock and market to the River Ouse. Market Street, High Street and Church End were the main streets in the town.
Today, Middle Watch, Boxworth End, and Buckingway Road are a continuation of the High Street to the A14.
