St Neots and adjoining parishes
The urban area of St. Neots (Cambs) consists of four historic parishes:
-----The town and parish of St. Neots, a planned new town in the C13th, based around the market and priory which encouraged its development. (in Huntingdonshire until 1974.)
----- The early settlement and old parish of Eynesbury - beyond the Hen Brook. (in Huntingdonshire until 1974.)
----- To the North - and across the river – the old village of Little Paxton (in Huntingdonshire until 1974)
----- Across the river – and to the west – the villages and hamlets that make up the parish of Eaton Socon, the largest settlements of which are Eaton Ford and Eaton Socon (in Bedfordshire until 1965, then Huntingdonshire until 1974)

Agriculture and its supporting trades were all important until the 19th Century when industrial growth began with the arrival of the Fourdrinier brothers to produce paper at the Okestubbe water mill at Little Paxton. Other industries developed in the town but it was not until the 1960s that there was a major growth in population.

St. Neots Community Archive has been set up to collect information about the past from the above-mentioned parishes and the surrounding villages. If you have any pictures, old maps or interesting stories that you would like to be included in the St. Neots Community Archive, please contact Pam Ostler at St. Neots Museum or Sue Jarrett at ccanstneots@gmail.com
